5 Things We Love About Project Management

Since it is valentines day today i thought i would share what we as the design Technology team love about project management.

1. You Get to Travel

When dealing with projects over time it is almost inevitable that you will get to travel and discover new places locally or internationally. This usually happens when carrying out project tasks such as attending meetings and monitoring project progress. If you really like exploring new places it is important not to forget to add more days to your stay or arrive early to places that you would be keen to check out.

2. You Get to Work With Other People

Within the project management industry experts usually keep in touch with each other as sometimes networking might be your key to success, you can meet a key expert for a new project idea and even make a new good friend. Meeting professionals and enthusiasts from different countries is truly rewarding for the professional development as well, as one can learn a lot on specific project topics.

3. You are always Learning

As no two projects are the same there is no doubt that which each project you encounter you learn something different. Each project has its own set of challenges, which requires you to customise approaches to suit the clients needs for you to successfully deliver a project. Some good examples of what you get to learn include; culture, new technology, new markets, products, services and customers. A project manager’s world is ever changing, growing and evolving – it’s always a learning space!

4. You Get to Work in Different Industries

The core of project management is about process management, which means you can apply your knowledge to different industries. This just shows how versatile a project management role can be and how there are hardly any dull moments within this line of work. You can apply your skills and expertise to another industry and transform your career.

5. You Can Work Offsite

In some cases there are projects in which one can work remotely and does not always have to be onsite to perform the required tasks. Such a scenario can happen when a short project that is not complex is underway. Another scenario could be a company that cannot afford to make frequent travel arrangements for a Project Manager. However with the increase of effective collaboration technologies on the market, it is now easier than ever to manage projects remotely, especially projects that have a short time frame and are not complex .

So for all those who would like to start their career in project management, we hope that you found some of these perks useful and interesting. Project management is an exciting and sometimes slightly an unnerving way to learn about business processes, technology and people. within all that experience you may even get to learn about yourself.
